Equipment Introduction

Biomass Flat Die Pellet Machine

The biomass flat die pellet machine is a biomass energy preprocessing device. It primarily utilizes solid biomass waste materials such as corn stalks, rice straw, peanut shells, corn cobs, cotton stalks, soybean stalks, rice husks, weeds, branches and leaves, sawdust, bark, and carbon powder as raw materials. Through crushing, pressurizing, densifying, and molding, it produces fine, rod-shaped solid pellet fuel. The raw material density before production is generally around 0.6-0.8, while the density of the pellets after molding is greater than 1.1, making them extremely easy to transport and store, and significantly improving combustion performance.

Working principle and advantages

The core of the process is to use mechanical pressure to force loose raw materials (for example, wood chips) through a perforated flat die, densifying them into cylindrical pellets. The entire process can be broken down into the following key steps:
1. Feeding and Distribution: Raw materials, dried to an appropriate moisture content (typically 10%-15%), are fed into the machine’s feed chamber via a feeding system (such as a screw conveyor, gravity feed hopper, or a forced feeder with agitation).
2. Compression: Actively rotating rollers compress the raw materials. Under high pressure (radial pressure + shear force) and frictional heat (60-100°C), the lignin (a natural binder) softens and the fibers plasticize and deform. The material is then forced into the vertical holes of the flat die.
3. Pellet Cutting: The continuous extruded rods are cut into pellets by a rotating cutter at the bottom.
Its core advantages lie in its relatively simple structure, strong adaptability to wood chip raw materials, intuitive and convenient operation and maintenance, and low investment and operating costs on a small and medium scale.
